WEYMOUTH, MA – January 21, 2008 – Healthcare management consulting firm Beacon Partners, Inc. today announced the recipient of the 2008 Beacon Partners Scholarship. Beacon Partners sponsored the scholarship through the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Foundation, an organization dedicated to inspiring charitable giving and education within the healthcare industry.
, from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was chosen as this year’s Beacon Partners Scholarship recipient.
Ms. Whitlow will receive a $7,000 scholarship award, along with an all-expense paid trip to the 2008 Annual HIMSS Conference and Exhibition, which takes place February 24-28 in Orlando at the Orange County Convention Center. Ms. Whitlow will be recognized for her scholarship award at the HIMSS Awards and Recognition Banquet on February 26th.

Those that applied for the Beacon Partners Scholarship had to meet a variety of requirements, including:
- Be a member in good standing of HIMSS.
- Full-time student at the time the scholarship is awarded.
- Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, Masters or PhD program related to the healthcare information management systems field.
- Be at least a first-time junior when the scholarship is awarded, if an undergraduate applicant.
- Submit a 500-word essay according to the scholarship guidelines.
- Have not previously received a HIMSS Foundation scholarship.
