New Version Includes Complaint Module
Norwell, Mass. (October 27, 2003) - Beacon Partners announced today the release of V2.0 of their Disclosure Accounting System ("DAS") designed to assist organizations comply with HIPAA regulations. The Privacy Rule of The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) mandates that all covered entities maintain records that will enable them to produce an Accounting of Disclosure listing for patients who request this information, as well as providing a listing of disclosures of Protected Health Information (PHI) for defined purposes. The Rule also requires covered entities to obtain authorization before releasing PHI for purposes other than Treatment, Payment or Health Care Operations and to comply with strict deadlines for responding to requests from patients for access to or release of their PHI. In addition, Covered Entities must maintain a system to record and respond to every complaint they receive related to HIPAA compliance.
The Beacon Partners Disclosure Accounting System is an enterprise application that provides desktop tools to comply with all three of these requirements. DAS provides functionality for monitoring, storing and reporting on disclosures whether electronic or manual, processing requests for release of information and tracking complaints received from patients or employees. DAS functions across all platforms and vendors and utilizes an SQL database with logical, user controlled tables and intuitive user screens which requires minimal implementation and training effort.
