Norwell, Mass. (June 24, 2003) - Beacon Partners announced today the release of the Beacon Disclosure Accounting System to help health care organizations comply with the HIPAA regulations. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability ACT of 1996 (HIPAA) mandates that all covered entities maintain records of disclosures of protected health information (PHI) for purposes other than treatment, payment or healthcare operations (TPO). An individual has the right to receive an accounting of these disclosures of PHI for the six years prior to the date on which the accounting is requested (164.528a(1)). Some information systems have the ability to support manual disclosures, such as copies of medical records but few can support disclosures made via electronic transfer.
The Beacon Disclosure Accounting System is an enterprise application for monitoring, storing and reporting on disclosures whether electronic or manual and functions across all platforms and vendors. Logical, table driven functionality and intuitive user screens requires minimal implementation and training effort.
