Initial ten month engagement will involve eight mid-western practices and PHO's
Norwell, MA - (December 11, 2000) - Beacon Partners, Inc., a leading national provider of health care management consulting services, announced today that it has signed a contract with Stratum Med of Urbana, Illinois, to provide complete HIPAA EDI Privacy and Security Education and Risk Assessment consulting services. Under the agreement, Beacon will provide Stratum Med shareholders with in-depth knowledge on the potential impacts of HIPAA on their business environment and will then perform a risk audit and assessment of current security and privacy policies & procedures, IS capabilities and physical safeguards. Beginning in December 2000, the engagement will include eight shareholders of the mid-western physician practice management company. Beacon expects the assessment phase to eventually include 12-15 of Stratum Med's shareholders.
Incorporated in 1996, Stratum Med was formed by nine mid-western medical groups that are highly successful independent group practices and PHO's. Shareholders are located in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin. Stratum has selectively added shareholders to expand strategically and now consists of twelve group practices and three PHO's. Each Shareholder is both an owner and a customer of Stratum's products and services. Currently, there are approximately 1,700 physicians associated with Stratum.
